Pantographic knife - A Pantographic knife, also known as a paratrooper knife, is a folding knife whose blade is fully enclosed by its handles when closed, in a manner similar to a balisong knife (commonly called a butterfly knife in western countries) - with which it is often confused. Unlike the balisong knife, the pantographic knife uses a pantograph linkage to keep the handles aligned during opening and closing (whereas balisong knife handles swing freely and independently).

Butterfly knife - The Balisong is a butterfly knife, and is sometimes known as a Batangas knife, is a form of folding pocket knife with two handles that counter-rotate around the tang such that, when closed, the blade is concealed within grooves in the handles. In the hands of a trained user, the knife blade can be brought forth quickly using one hand.

Boot knife - A boot knife is a type of fixed-blade knife designed to be worn in or attached to a boot. This keeps the knife concealed within the boot and/or under the pant leg.

Assisted-opening knife - An assisted-opening knife is a type of knife which uses some kind of mechanism to open a knife when a little bit of pressure is applied. They are commonly confused with switchblades, but have one main difference.
